Back-to-school season is here, Mamas! 🎒✏️

Okay, I can’t believe how the summer has flown by! Still holding on to these last few weeks and enjoying lower traffic! But it’s here, back-to-school season is officially starts July 20th with tax-free shopping perks. Whether your child is starting kindergarten, heading back for another school year, or you’re looking for ways to make the transition easier, I’ve rounded up the best back-to-school resources happening across Miami-Dade, Broward, and South Florida.

From free health screenings and school supply giveaways to family-friendly events and community resources, this guide has everything you need before school starts. All listed with dates, location and important information too!

Florida Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
Dates: July 20 – August 20, 2026
Location: Participating retailers across Florida
Save money while you shop for the new school year! Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday gives families the opportunity to purchase eligible school essentials tax-free, making it the perfect time to stock up on supplies, clothing, and learning tools.
Eligible purchases include:
🎒 School supplies priced at $50 or less per item
👕 Clothing, footwear, and backpacks priced at $100 or less per item
🖍️ Learning aids priced at $30 or less
💻 Computers and qualifying accessories priced at $1,500 or less when purchased for personal use

FREE Backpacks for Students – Verizon Authorized Retailers
Dates: July 26, 2026 | 1:00 PM
Location: Participating Verizon Authorized Retailers, including Wireless Zone & TCC
Help your students start the school year prepared! Verizon Authorized Retailers are giving away 125,000 FREE backpacks while supplies last. Families can stop by and grab a backpack filled with school-ready essentials.

Hope for Society Foundation Annual Back-2-School & Health Fair

Back to School Splash Bash

National Night Out & Back-to-School Night – Doral

Celebrate National Night Out with the Doral Police Department at this FREE family-friendly event! Hosted in partnership with PBSO – Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, families can enjoy an evening filled with entertainment, activities, and community fun.

Gulfstream Academy Back to School Resource Fair
Dates: August 7, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Gulfstream Academy of Hallandale Beach K–8
Get ready for the new school year at Gulfstream Academy’s Back to School Resource Fair! Families can pick up class schedules, meet teachers and staff, explore parent resources, tour the campus, and take advantage of sports physicals and immunizations. Backpacks will also be available while supplies last to help students start the school year prepared.

StyleSaves Miami Back to School Event
Dates: August 8–9, 2026
Location: Miami Beach Convention Center
Get ready for one of Miami’s biggest back-to-school events! Families can prepare for the new school year with resources, support, and helpful information, plus tons of kid friendly activities!

Military Families Back-to-School Picnic
Dates: August 8, 2026 | 12:00 PM
Location: Buccaneer Park, 3100 NW 207th Street, Miami Gardens, FL 33056
The City of Miami Gardens Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee invites families to a day of community, connection, and back-to-school support! While this event honors military families, everyone in the community is welcome to attend.
Families can enjoy:

  • Music and entertainment

Tamarac Back-to-School Community Resource Fair
